Charles Phillips is the Managing Director of litigation services for Acuitas, an Atlanta CPA firm that practices litigation and valuation services. Working with attorneys and their clients, Mr. Phillips provides financial and business advice as a damages expert and forensic accountant, in all phases of the litigation process and in arbitration and mediation. Frequently, Mr. Phillips is asked to give expert testimony on damages in a lawsuit, or to serve as consulting expert assisting attorneys prepare litigation. Mr. Phillips also serves as an expert witness on liability for issues about accounting and auditing, CPA professional standards, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and business and financial practices. He has testified numerous times as an expert witness at the request of both plaintiffs and defendants on a wide range of business, financial and professional matters. Mr. Phillips often serves as the arbitrator of disputes arising from mergers and acquisitions. Prior to forming Acuitas in 1995, he was the Partner in Charge of Litigation Services for Coopers & Lybrand L.L.P., a predecessor firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers, in Atlanta and other Southeastern cities.

Charles Phillips has been a Partner with two national CPA and consulting firms, and spent five years in financial and operations management with a diversified public company, Southern Industries Corporation. His professional and financial experience includes accounting and auditing, taxes, strategic business planning, personal financial planning, business valuations and business acquisitions and disposals. Mr. Phillips has been engaged to serve the U.S. Bankruptcy Court as an Examiner and a Fiscal Agent, and has served as Special Master for the Alabama Circuit Court. He has led many engagements involving fraud and white collar crime and has testified in litigation related to antitrust, breach of contract, business interruption, securities, investments, trusts and estates, mergers and acquisitions, accounting malpractice, lender liability, patent, copyright and trademark infringement, trade secrets, and restrictive covenants.

Mr. Phillips has undergraduate degrees in business administration from Auburn University and the University of Alabama, and also holds a Master of Arts in Accounting from the University of Alabama. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner, and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Mr. Phillips is Accredited in Business Valuations and has been designated a Certified Financial Forensic by the American Institute of CPAs. He has served as Chair of the Valuation and Litigation Services Section of the Georgia Society of CPAs.
